Import to the Unreal Engine

The simplest and fastest way to import an entire scene (camera, proxy geometry, tracked geometry) is by using Datasmith and Cinema 4D. Therefore, you need to enable these plugins first in the settings under Edit → Plugins.

It is also recommended to enable the Image Plate plugin right away.

Next, it is crucial to ensure that the Cinema 4D project is properly configured: the correct frame range and FPS are set, and all animation keys are baked (Alembic cache will not work).

Once you have verified that all the settings are correct, save the project in .c4d format.

When everything is ready, you can proceed with the import. Open Unreal Engine, go to Add → Datasmith → File Import….

Next, choose the location in the project where you want to add the scene. To keep everything organized, it’s a good idea to create a new folder beforehand.

You can leave settings as they are, but if necessary, you can adjust them to meet your specific requirements.
